Oscar winner Matt Damon and Grammy winner John Legend are among the celebrities confirmed for this year’s One X One children’s benefit gala.

Damon will host the second annual event, which benefits global children’s charities, Sept. 10 at the Carlu in Toronto, organizers announced Tuesday.

Legend, Canadian Juno Award winners Raine Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk and the African Children’s Choir will be among the performers on stage for what’s billed as a night of “music and storytelling.”

Those slated to speak about their achievements include economist Jeffrey Sachs, a special adviser to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Olympic gold medallist Clara Hughes of Right To Play and Immaculee Ilibagiza, a Rwandan genocide survivor and author of Left to Tell.

CTV’s Seamus O’Regan, co-host of Canada AM, will be the master of ceremonies.

One X One will be one of many star-gazing opportunities in the city that week, as celebrities pack red carpets for the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs Sept. 7 to 16.

One X One is a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting, preserving and improving the lives of children around the world.

It facilitated more than $1.3 million to Canadian charities and global initiatives last year, including War Child Canada, Right To Play, Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada, Child Find and the African Children’s Choir.
